Whether you’re a seasoned maker or just starting your creative journey, I’ve put together the ultimate alphabet of creativity to inspire, encourage, and guide you. So grab your favourite cuppa ☕, get comfy, and let’s dive into this A-Z adventure together! I’ve tried to incorporate what works for me personally!
🅰️ A is for ALLOW
Allow yourself to play and experiment without judgement or expectation of perfection. Give yourself permission to be messy, weird, and wonderfully imperfect! 🎭 I like to craft while watching Netflix so this avoids my overthinking my project too much.
🅱️ B is for BUILD
Build a creative routine that fits YOUR life. Whether it’s 10 minutes with your morning coffee or luxurious weekend sessions, find what works for you and stick with it! ⏰I like to craft usually before or after dinner time – once I’ve recharged from my day job half shifts.
©️ C is for CURIOSITY
Curiosity drives creativity! Ask “what if” questions, poke around, and explore ideas that intrigue you. Let your inner child lead the way! 🔍✨ If it doesn’t work out, at least you tried.
🅳 D is for DOCUMENT
Document your ideas in sketchbooks, notepads, or digital notes before they slip away like sand through your fingers. Those midnight musings? Write them down! 📝💡I have a technique tracker as well as card sketch blank planning pages in My Papercraft Planner.
🅴 E is for EMBRACE
Embrace failure as a stepping stone to better times ahead. Every “oops” is just a small bump in your creative story! 🌱
🅵 F is for FIND
Find inspiration EVERYWHERE – nature, pinterest, dreams, other art forms, and daily observations. The world is your creative playground! 🌍🌈 I don’t have time to fall down the rabbit hole of social media inspiration seeking I’m afraid – but I do turn to our own catalogues and the Stampin’ Up! website for ideas!
🅶 G is for GIVE
Give yourself permission to create badly before creating well, especially when learning new skills. We all start somewhere, and that somewhere is usually the beginning! 😊I was a very inexperienced papercrafter when I joined Stampin’ Up! And to this day I’m still learning.
🅷 H is for HONOUR
Honour your creative impulses by making time and space for them in your life. Your creativity deserves respect and attention! 💖And you are allowed that down-time!
ℹ️ I is for INSPIRATION
Look to your fellow crafters for inspiration 🔄 You can CASE projects to suit your own version but remember to always credit the original creator where possible. Manners cost nothing.
🅹 J is for JOIN
Join creative communities, attend classes, or find collaborators who share your interests and passions. Creativity loves company! 👥🎉I have a fantastic creative group on Facebook and I learn so much from the members that joined me there – they are my inspiration.
🅺 K is for KEEP
Keep creating even when motivation wanes – discipline often carries you through creative blocks. Show up, even on the tough days! 💪 I like to tidy my craft space, or rearrange my stamps, anything that makes me feel that I am still accomplishing something.
🅻 L is for LEARN
Learn from different sources and cross-pollinate ideas between different fields and mediums. Mix it up!
🅼 M is for MAKE
Make something every day, even if it’s small, to maintain your creative momentum and skills. A doodle counts. A colour swatch counts. It ALL counts! ✏️ If I make a new home made recipe, I count that as creative time too!
🅽 N is for NOTICE
Notice patterns, details, and connections that others might overlook in the world around you. You’ve got creative superpowers – use them! 👀✨
🅾️ O is for OVERCOME
Overcome perfectionism by focusing on progress and expression rather than flawless execution. Done is better than perfect🎯
🅿️ P is for PRACTISE
Practise regularly to develop your technical skills and expand your creative vocabulary. Like learning an instrument, creativity gets stronger with use! 🎵
🆀 Q is for QUESTION
Question assumptions and conventional approaches to find fresh perspectives and solutions. “But what if we tried it THIS way instead?” 🤔💭
🆁 R is for REST
Rest and recharge your creative energy through breaks, sleep, and activities that inspire you. You can’t pour from an empty cup! 🛌🌙
🆂 S is for SHARE
Share your work with others to build connections, receive feedback, and inspire fellow creators. Your projects deserve to be seen! 🌟
🆃 T is for TRUST
Trust your instincts and unique voice rather than trying to copy others’ styles exactly. The world needs YOUR flavour of creativity! 🎨 As before, if you do CASE a project, mention the originator.
🆄 U is for UNDERSTAND
Understand that creativity is a skill that improves with consistent practise and patience. You’re not born creative – you BECOME creative! 📈
🆅 V is for VALUE
Value the creative process as much as the final outcome and learn from each experience. The journey is just as important as the destination! 🛤️
🆆 W is for WELCOME
