Today’s Project: Spooky Sweet Fun
I pulled out my Spooky Sweet Collection for today’s crafting session. I’d stamped these adorable images last week (sometimes I like to batch my stamping!), and they were just waiting patiently for me to add some colour. It’s nice to have projects ready to go when you need a creative pick-me-up.
Colour Palette
For this Halloween card, I chose a vibrant and playful colour scheme:
- Pumpkin Pie – perfect for all things autumn and spooky
- Gorgeous Grape – adds a rich, mysterious touch
- Granny Apple Green – a fun pop of brightness
- Daffodil Delight – cheerful and eye-catching
- Grey shades – for depth and shadows
Building the Card
I started with a C6 card base in Granny Apple Green – I love how this deep purple creates such a striking foundation for Halloween projects. For the mat layer, I used some of the gorgeous Designer Series Paper from the Spooky Sweet suite.
To create a focal point for my coloured characters, I used one of my Stylish Shapes Dies to cut a circle. This really helps draw the eye to those cute little characters I spent time colouring!
The Finishing Touch
Every good Halloween card needs the word “BOO,” right? I had previously die cut some letters in Pumpkin Pie using the Mini Alphabet Dies, so I arranged them on the card. But I couldn’t resist adding just a bit more sparkle – I coloured over the letters with Wink of Stella for that perfect touch of bling!
Crafting as Self-Care
Today was a good reminder that crafting isn’t just about the finished product – it’s about taking time for yourself, slowing down, and doing something that brings you joy. Whether you’re colouring stamped images or trying a new technique, those moments at your craft desk can be the perfect way to reset and relax.
