🌸 Beginners Wanted! Have You Ever Wanted to Try Card Making?
Are you completely new to card making? I’m looking for people who have NEVER made a handmade card before to help me explore card making for beginners from the very beginning.
And when I say never, I mean NEVER. 😂
I’m not looking for secretly crafty people with seventeen cupboards full of stamps, enough patterned paper to wallpaper the house and a craft room that would make me jealous!
I’m looking for complete beginners.
People who have never picked up a stamp.
Someone who wouldn’t know where to start with card making.
Or someone like yourself who would look at handmade cards and think:
“That looks lovely… but I could never make that.”
Because you absolutely CAN — and I’d love the opportunity to show you. 💕
✂️ I’m Looking for Complete Card-Making Beginners
Recently, I’ve been thinking a lot about how we introduce new people to crafting.
When you’ve been crafting for a while, it’s very easy to forget what it felt like at the beginning.
You hear words like cardstock, stamps, ink pads, scoring, die cutting and DSP being thrown around as though everyone knows what they mean!
But what if you don’t?
What if you’ve never crafted before?
That’s exactly who I want to hear from.

🌸 Have You Ever Thought About Trying a New Hobby?
Maybe you’ve been thinking that you need something that’s just for you.
Something creative.
Pretty things you can enjoy at home.
Something that gets you away from screens for a little while.
Or perhaps you’d simply like to try something completely new.
Papercrafting and card making can be a lovely way to enjoy some creative time without needing to be particularly artistic.
And no, you don’t need to be creative already!
That’s one of the biggest things I want beginners to know.
You don’t need to be able to draw, need beautiful handwriting or need to understand colour theory. And you certainly don’t need seventeen cupboards of craft supplies!
You just need to be willing to have a go.

💕 Why Am I Looking for Beginners?
Because I want to get better at helping people who are right at the very beginning of their crafting journey.
I create lots of card-making and papercrafting projects, but I want to make sure I’m explaining things in a way that makes sense to someone who has never crafted before.
What seems obvious to an experienced crafter might be completely baffling to a beginner.
So, I want to go right back to basics.
Really basic basics.
What do you actually need to make your first card?
What’s a stamp?
How do you use an ink pad?
What’s cardstock?
What glue should you use?
How do you cut things straight?
What happens if you make a mistake?
And perhaps most importantly…
Can someone who doesn’t think they’re creative actually make something beautiful?
Spoiler alert: YES! 🌸
✂️ I Want to Make Beginner Card Making Less Intimidating
One thing I definitely don’t want is for someone to discover card making, look at all the products available and immediately think:
“Oh goodness, I’d need to buy ALL of that!”
You really don’t.
In fact, that’s something I want to explore much more here at Smith’s Crafty Creations.
I want to show you what you genuinely need to get started, what can wait until later and how you can enjoy crafting without feeling overwhelmed.
We’ll start small.
We’ll keep things simple.
And we’ll learn as we go.
No judgement or pressure and certainly no expectation that everything has to be perfect.
Because handmade doesn’t mean perfect — it means you made it. 💕
🌷 So, Are YOU the Beginner I’m Looking For?
Here’s where I need your help.
If you’ve never made a handmade card before, I’d love to hear from you.
I want to know:
What has stopped you from trying?
Maybe you don’t think you’re creative.
Or you don’t know where to start.
Possibly you think crafting is expensive.
Perhaps you’re worried you’d be terrible at it.
Or maybe you’ve simply never had anyone invite you to give it a go.
Whatever your reason, I genuinely want to hear it.
Your answers will help me create better beginner-friendly projects, tutorials and content — and hopefully encourage more people to discover how enjoyable papercrafting can be.
🎁 I’d Love to Send You a Little Something!
If you’re a complete beginner and this sounds like you, I’d love you to get in touch.
You can comment on the social media post where you found this blog, or you can email me privately at:
smithscraftycreations@gmail.com
Tell me a little bit about yourself, whether you’ve ever tried any type of papercrafting before and, most importantly, what has stopped you from giving card making a try?
I’d also love to know what would make you feel comfortable enough to have that very first go.
And here’s the exciting bit…
I’d like to send a few complete beginners a little something to help you test the water and see whether card making might be for you. 💌✂️
There’s no expectation that you suddenly become a full-on crafter with seventeen cupboards of supplies! 😂
I simply want to give you the opportunity to try something new and then tell me what you thought.
Was it easier than you expected?
What did you enjoy?
What confused you?
Would you do it again?
Your genuine beginner feedback would be incredibly helpful to me as I develop more content specifically for people who are completely new to card making.
💬 Calling All Non-Crafters!
And here’s a little challenge for all my crafty friends too…
You probably know someone who always says:
“Oh, I’m not crafty!”
Send them this post! 😂
I’m looking for the people who haven’t discovered their crafty side yet.
Whether you’re looking for a relaxing new hobby, some creative time for yourself or you’re simply curious about how handmade cards are made, I’d love you to come along for the journey.
You don’t need experience.
Or a cupboard full of supplies.
And you don’t even need to think you’re creative.
You just need to be willing to try. ✂️💕
