Finding Time for Crafting | What’s Happening in Tricia’s Craft Room?✂️💕

What’s Been Happening in Tricia’s Craft Room? ✂️💕

Life has been a little bit busy around here lately! Between papercrafting, planning, networking, family life, pets and tackling those jobs around the house that I’d much rather ignore, I’ve definitely been keeping myself occupied.

However, while I’ve been getting lots done, I’ve realised something rather important…

I need to make a little more time for ME to actually craft! ✂️💕

Does anyone else find that sometimes?

You can spend so much time doing all the things around your hobby that you suddenly realise you haven’t actually sat down and enjoyed your hobby!

🌸 Sharing Papercrafting With More Beginners

One of the biggest things I’ve been working on recently is my mission to introduce more beginners to papercrafting and card making.

I’ve been doing some very specific networking, sharing and social media content aimed at people who might never have picked up a stamp, ink pad or piece of cardstock before.

Because I really want to get this message across:

You don’t have to be “crafty” to start crafting!

You don’t need a room full of supplies, years of experience or some mysterious creative talent that everyone else seems to have.

You can start small, learn as you go and simply enjoy making something.

That’s why I’ve also been concentrating on creating easy papercrafting projects for beginners. Projects that don’t require dozens of products or complicated techniques — just lovely, achievable makes that can help someone discover the joy of creating with paper, ink and glue.

✂️ Keeping My Projects Simple

Even as an experienced crafter, there’s something really satisfying about going back to basics.

I’ve been creating some lovely easy-to-make cards and papercraft projects that I hope will give new crafters the confidence to think:

“Actually… I could make that!”

That’s exactly the reaction I’m looking for.

After all, everyone has to start somewhere.

I’m going to continue sharing beginner-friendly projects, tips and information, so if you’ve been watching from the sidelines wondering whether card making could be for you, keep following along.

You might surprise yourself! 💕📔 My Planner Is Keeping Me on Track… and Looking Pretty!

My planner has also been getting plenty of attention.

I’m trying really hard to keep it up to date, organise everything I’ve got going on and — naturally — make it look pretty at the same time!

Because why have a boring planner when you own pretty paper and stickers? 😂

I’ve found that actually writing things down and seeing what I have planned helps enormously.

There is always something going on with Smith’s Crafty Creations, whether that’s creating projects, writing blog posts, making videos, sharing on social media, planning classes or working behind the scenes.

My planner helps me see the bigger picture rather than having everything whizzing around in my head at once.

🧹 And Then There Are the “Avoid, Avoid!” Areas…

This isn’t quite as exciting as pretty paper!

I’ve also challenged myself to spend around an hour each day tackling those areas of the house that I’ve been avoiding.

You know the ones.

You walk past them…

You notice them…

You think, “I really need to sort that…”

And then you conveniently find something else to do. 😂

I’ve been trying to stop doing that and dedicate a manageable chunk of time each day to getting on top of things.

I’m certainly not transforming the entire house overnight, but little by little I’m getting there.

And that feels GOOD!

🏡 Of Course, There’s Life Outside the Craft Room Too

Then there’s normal life.

Family.

Pets.

Housework.

Meals.

Messages.

Appointments.

Work.

All those little things that somehow manage to fill the spaces between everything else!

Keeping everyone happy and everything ticking along is a job in itself.

And I think that’s probably something many of us can relate to.

We all have things we have to do.

Then there are the things we want to do.

Quite often, the things we enjoy most get pushed further and further down the list.

💕 But Where Is My ME Crafty Time?

And that’s where I’ve caught myself recently.

I’ve been talking about crafting.

Planning crafting.

Sharing crafting.

Creating beginner content.

Organising crafting.

Photographing crafting.

Writing about crafting…

But I need more time just to CRAFT!

Not because I need a project for social media.

Not because I need to photograph it.

Not because I need to write a tutorial.

Just because I fancy sitting down and making something.

That’s something I want to become much more intentional about.

Even if it’s only half an hour.

A cup of tea. My craft supplies. No pressure to produce anything. No deadline.

Just some proper ME crafty time. 💕

🌸 How Do YOU Fit It All In?

So now I’m handing this one over to you.

How do you make time for your hobbies when life is busy?

Do you actually schedule your hobby time?

Do you wait until everything else is finished?

Do you have a particular evening that’s your time?

Or are you like me and sometimes realise you’ve been so busy doing everything else that the thing you really wanted to do hasn’t happened?

I’d genuinely love to hear how you manage it, so leave me a comment below and tell me what works for you.

Maybe we can pick up a few ideas from each other. 💕

And if you’re someone who doesn’t currently have a hobby but has been thinking about trying something creative, have a look around my beginner papercrafting posts. I’m going right back to basics and showing that card making really can be for anyone.

Happy crafting — and here’s to finding a little more time to actually do it!
