Perfect Evening Ideas: Night Out, Film, Crafts or Books?

What’s Your Perfect Evening? 🌸

If someone handed you a completely FREE evening, what would you do with it?

And when I say free, I mean properly free. 😂

No housework is waiting to be done.
Work emails can be completely forgotten about.
That washing pile isn’t going anywhere!

Best of all, nobody needs you to run around after them. 😂 Just a few lovely hours where YOU get to decide what happens next. Sounds good, doesn’t it? 😂 So, I thought we’d have a little fun today.

Which Perfect Evening Are You Choosing?

You only get to pick ONE! 👀

💃 A — A Night Out

Are you getting dressed up, doing your hair, putting on your favourite outfit and heading out?
Maybe it’s dinner with friends, a few drinks, some music or even a wee dance.
There’s definitely something lovely about getting out of the house and having a proper night out.
Although, I must admit, the thought of getting ready sometimes feels like an event in itself! 😂

🎬 B — Film & Snacks

Comfy clothes on. ✔️
Favourite film or series ready. ✔️
Snacks within reaching distance. ✔️

This is definitely a strong contender!

There’s something rather wonderful about getting cosy on the couch, switching off from everything else and settling down to watch something good.

And obviously, snacks are compulsory. 🍿🍫

✂️ C — A Craft Evening

Now we’re talking! 😂✂️💕

Give me some paper, glue, scissors and a few uninterrupted hours and I’m quite happy.

A craft evening doesn’t need to involve making anything particularly complicated either.

You could make a couple of simple cards, try a new technique, play with some pretty papers or simply sit and have a little creative time without worrying about what the finished project looks like.

For me, that’s one of the lovely things about papercrafting.
It’s not just about what you make.
It’s about taking some time out, switching your brain onto something creative and enjoying the process.
Sometimes we all need a little bit of that. 💕

📚 D — Books & a Cosy Blanket

Or perhaps you’re choosing the quiet option.

A good book.
A cosy blanket.
A cuppa. ☕
And preferably nobody asking you where anything is for at least three hours. 😂

Bliss!

There’s something lovely about disappearing into a good book and shutting the rest of the world out for a little while.

Why Do We Find It So Hard to Make Time for Ourselves?

This silly little question actually got me thinking.

How often do we get a few hours where we genuinely feel we can do exactly what WE want?

Life gets busy.

There’s always another job that could be done, somewhere that needs tidied, somebody who needs something or something sitting on that never-ending to-do list.

And sometimes our hobbies end up right at the bottom of it.

We tell ourselves:

“I’ll get my craft supplies out once everything else is done.”
“Maybe I’ll find some time to read my book later.”
“That film can always wait until another night.”

But everything else is NEVER completely done, is it? 😂

There will always be another load of washing!

So perhaps we need to get a little better at giving ourselves permission to enjoy the things that make us happy too.

Your Hobby Doesn’t Have to Be Productive 💕

This is something I’m trying to remind myself of more often.

Your hobby doesn’t have to achieve anything.

There’s no need to make ten cards or finish every project you start.

Sometimes, simply enjoying the creative process is enough.

And you certainly don’t have to be particularly good at it! 💕

Sometimes it’s enough just to sit down, get the crafty supplies out and enjoy yourself.

That’s one of the reasons I’m so passionate about encouraging complete beginners to give papercrafting a try.

You don’t need a craft room full of supplies or years of experience.

You just need somewhere to start.

And perhaps one free evening. 😉✂️

So… A, B, C or D?

Time to choose!

💃 A — Night Out
🎬 B — Film & Snacks
✂️ C — Craft Evening
📚 D — Books & a Cosy Blanket

And NO…

You’re not allowed to choose all four! 😂😂

Pop your answer in the comments below.

I’d genuinely love to see which one wins.

And if you’ve never tried papercrafting before but C sounds like your kind of evening, stick around.
